In exchange, the two would share their money and property equally, and Geffen allegedly agreed to “provide for Michaels financial support for the rest of his life … including providing Michaels with a home — even in the event of dissolution of their relationship by death, separation or otherwise.”

Amid the divorce, Michaels claims that Geffen is no longer providing financial support or a place for him to live, which is a breach of the alleged oral contract.

In addition to evicting Michaels, Geffen also cut him off from his status quo financial support, making it impossible for Michaels to secure an appropriate living situation and provide for his daily necessities.”

Geffen’s attorney, Patricia Glaser, told Variety that the suit is “pathetic.” She says that “There was and is no contract — express, written or implied — that has ever existed.” Glaser is not involved in the divorce proceeding.

On top of it all, there’s no prenup. “Michaels gave up his dreams — his modeling career, his independence — to dedicate himself fully to this promise.”

Geffen filed for divorce from Michaels on May 16, 2025, after about two years of marriage, listing the date of separation as February 22, 2025, and citing the reasoning as irreconcilable differences.

Even “the existence of an ingrown hair was enough to raise Geffen’s ire and trigger a flurry of instructions to correct the imperfection,” the filing states.

Michaels further claims he was molded into a kept companion, prevented from pursuing a career of his own, and relegated to managing Geffen’s properties as a glorified “house husband.”

When he got sober and began asserting independence, he alleges, Geffen couldn’t handle the shift in power, the Journal reported.

“[Geffen] wanted to be the savior, the white knight, and the ‘top’,” according to legal papers cited by the Journal.

Geffen’s side paints a starkly different picture.

The two met on seekingarrangements.com, and Geffen paid Michaels $10,000 for sex the first night they met, according to Michaels’s new lawsuit. Here’s Everything We Know

The marriage dissolution between entertainment billionaire David Geffen and his soon-to-be ex-husband David Armstrong just took another messy turn.

Those two previously faced off when representing Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, Johnny Depp and Amber Heard, and Dr. Dre and Nicole Young, respectively.

The lawsuit also claims that Geffen emotionally abused Michaels. They began regularly seeing each other.

According to his complaint, Geffen demanded an extreme sex life, one in which he “gained satisfaction from causing pain” and sought “total dominion” over the younger black man he had taken in.

Armstrong claims that alleged demand often resulted in him having to undergo “extensive, painful laser treatments and dental treatments.”

Armstrong also mentioned alleged “abuse” at the hands of Geffen and that he had certain “proclivities” but failed to get into specifics.

No protections.

“He demanded that Michaels immediately vacate the New York residence, which would effectively render Michaels homeless,” the lawsuit states. Per Variety, Armstrong is now suing Geffen for breach of contract and alleged in court documents that he was treated as “a living social experiment — a trophy to show off to his wealthy friends, under the guise of benevolence.”

In the 33-page complaint, Armstrong lobbed a slew of accusations against Geffen, the largest of which hinged on the Asylum Records’ founder’s alleged exploitation of a vulnerable Armstrong, who had been placed in the foster care system since he was a baby.

“Geffen learned of Michaels’ troubled past — his history of neglect, poverty, instability, and legal entanglements.

What’s going on with this relationship? Armstrong also claimed he was cut off from his financial support and forced out of their New York home on the same day that his nearly former billionaire husband was allegedly hosting his A-list friends on his superyacht last month on the eve of Jeff Bezos’ star-studded wedding.

“While Geffen holds himself out to the public as an extraordinarily charitable man whose foundation gives millions and millions of dollars to advocacy and support groups for the homeless and disadvantaged populations, he is simultaneously endeavoring to render Michaels impoverished and homeless,” the suit alleged in part.

Additionally, and as noted by The Hollywood Reporter, Armstrong also alleged illicit drug use at the hands of Geffen.

On the first night they met, the suit claims, Michaels told Geffen about his early traumas — including his time in Michigan foster care and his lack of family — which Geffen used “as a grooming tool.” After the initial meeting, the lawsuit claims that “Geffen demanded sexual access at will, including acts Michaels found degrading,” and that, “Geffen plied Michaels with drugs and alcohol, not for recreation, but as tools of coercion — lowering his resistance and increasing his dependency.” When they got together without payment, the alleged abuse did not stop.

Far from being controlled, Geffen’s camp argues, Michaels was spoiled—and reckless, the Journal reported.

The battle has been intensified by a startling revelation: the couple had no prenuptial agreement.

While much of Geffen’s fortune is shielded under California law because it predates the marriage, Michaels has filed a breach-of-contract suit, insisting Geffen verbally promised to take care of him for life.

For Geffen, now 82, the scandal has upended what was supposed to be a tranquil final act.

Friends say the famously ruthless dealmaker—dubbed Hollywood’s “merciless Macbeth”—was once uncharacteristically smitten, introducing Michaels to his A-list circle and eventually marrying him in 2023.

Their short-lived romance saw them dining with Kris Jenner, sitting courtside at NBA games with Elon Musk and hosting Mariah Carey aboard Geffen’s $400 million superyacht “Rising Sun.”

The marriage unraveled quickly.

Even the existence of an ingrown hair was enough to raise Geffen’s ire and trigger a flurry of instructions to correct the imperfection.”

Well … it became real. Michaels agreed to live with Geffen, appear as his “boyfriend” publicly, work as his house manager by helping “coordinate Geffen’s staff,” and assist with parties and events.

“We will be vigorously and righteously defending against this false and pathetic lawsuit.”

In an effort to keep up with the lifestyle, Armstrong allegedly developed a substance abuse problem and had to undergo treatment in order to kick it.

Lawyers for Geffen have since responded to the lawsuit, calling it “pathetic” and “false.”

“There was and is no contract — express, written or implied — that has ever existed,” the billionaire’s attorney Patricia Glaser said.

Michaels claims that, after years during which “Michaels was expected to use drugs along with Geffen and his friends, who occasionally enjoyed using hard drugs as a group on the superyacht,” he instead attended Alcoholics Anonymous.
